Canadian Poker Tour Signs Deal with Tax Rebate Group

A new sponsorship deal has been signed between HeadsUp Entertainment and tax recovery specialists, Poker Tax Rebate.
HeadsUp Entertainment are the operators for the Canadian Poker Tour, Canadian Poker Player Magazine and the Canadian Poker Player Television Network.
Poker Tax Rebate will be the representing sponsor for all major poker tournaments in Canada and abroad, according to the terms of the new deal.
"We are very encouraged with the terms of the agreement we have come to with Poker Tax Rebate," said the President and Chief Executive Officer of HeadsUp, Kelly B. Kellner.
"Through our player database, web and social media infrastructure and television productions, we are very encouraged about the amount of business we will be able to generate together."
Tax Experts
The decision to take Poker Tax Rebate as a partner was not a random one. It is believed that Canadian poker players will benefit from this partnership, due to the taxes that they are forced to pay when playing out of the country, especially in the United States.
This year's World Series of Poker has seen Canadians win over $5 million in prize money - and the tournament isn't even over yet. These players will need to pay 30% withholding tax, over and above the state tax that visitors need to pay on winnings over $1,200 on certain gambling games.
As such, Poker Tax Rebate is able to guide these players and help them with all the necessary documentation that is required, and ensure that all IRS refunds are obtained.
Recently, HeadsUp Entertainment reported a major gain in revenues from poker events that were held in 2011, and the group expects the growth to continue this year and next. HeadsUp Entertainment also recently entered into a strategic marketing alliance with Tropicana Las Vegas.
