Russell Brand Causes Canadian Casino Rama Entry Furor
Russell Brand, the UK comedian and husband to international star, Katy Perry, recently caused a Twitter furor ahead of a planned performance at the Casino Rama in Canada.
Brand's legion of dedicated Twitter followers first caught wind of the performer's problems when he posted this tweet: "Hey! I'm gonna be late for Casino Rama show unless someone can force Canadian customs officials to let us land in Orillia! How do you manipulate customs officials? I must perform at Casino Rama, Orilla tonight at 9 for 5,000 Canadians."
Several hours later, he tweeted: "Tonight's Casino Rama show postponed. I'm sorry. I can't enter Canada. We must abolish the borders between our nations and our minds."
Russell Brand's Canada casino tweets caught the attention of the media, who hurried to speculate about why Brand was not allowed into Ontario, Canada, and why he was having so many problems with customs.
Casino Rama decided to get some things straight following the uproar and tweeted: "OK all, let's be clear @rustyrockets [Brand's Twitter alias] is still in Cali... he never left, he has no immigration or border issue, it was a technical issue with his plane! They had technical issues with his plane in California and he wasn't able to get another plane and get here in time!"
Casino Rama No Show Due to Plane Issues
It soon became clear to everyone that the singer/comedian was pulling a prank on his Twitter followers and his problems arriving at the Casino Rama show were indeed due to technical problems with his aircraft.
The Canadian Public Safety Minister's office even had to comment on the issue by stating: "Apparently he had aircraft problems and was making a joke."
This reason was made even more acceptable by the fact that there is no international airport in Orillia, and therefore no 'customs' to go through.
But Twitter followers and the media cannot be blamed for believing Brand, who was recently stopped from entering Japan due to previous drug convictions.
Ontario's Casino Rama boasts over 2,500 slot machines and 110 table games which include blackjack, craps, Pai Gow Poker, Caribbean Stud Poker, roulette and sic bo.
